Genuinely helpful tips for making online MLM work are valuable. A ton of people out there are scouring the Internet for them because they’re so hard to come by.
It doesn’t necessarily have to be MLM, either. There are all sorts of online businesses that people are desperately looking for help with.
If you’re feeling frustration, stress, anguish (and even hopelessness) with your online business, you’re not alone. The good news? I can help!
There can be many reasons why you’re failing, but there are generally 1-4 major things you can change for the better – and it can make an enormous difference.
If you’re curious, check out these 4 Online MLM tips. If one or all of these apply to you, then make some big changes asap.
Read on as I break each one down for you.
1.) You’re Not Promoting the Right Product or Service.
The problem here is multi-fold. In other words, it’s complicated.
For example, most MLM companies are centered around vitamins and supplements. This can include juices, shakes, powders and even canned drinks.
The general idea is better health and weight loss, and many of these products are excellent.
That’s true.
A problem you can run into is that people generally don’t want or need them – especially when similar items are available at places like GNC for less money.
Another issue here is the minimum monthly purchase, ‘in order to qualify for commissions.’
Typically, it’s about $100 worth a month (on auto-ship) – and that’s before you sell anything or bring anyone into your downline. If you can handle that, fine.
If not, you’re going to have a garage full of this expensive stuff and be out a lot of money.
The minimum monthly purchase can be for other types of products too.
An MLM can be anything, such as cosmetics, coffee, digital products, insurance, toys, essential oils, precious metals, fuel additives, educational items, services (of various types) and so on.
So, you have to ask yourself these four questions:
1) Is this something I (ME) can understand and explain easily?
2) Can I afford any minimum monthly purchase?
3) Is this a product/item/service that I (ME) will be using?
4) Is this something that other people need, want and will use?
If the answer isn’t a convincing YES to any of those four questions, it might not be for you.

2.) You’re Not Talking to the Right People.
This is very common, especially when folks are first starting out with Internet marketing.
The thing they’re promoting isn’t targeting the right audience.
Social media is a great example. By the way, social media is a nice way to generate leads. It has its problems though.
Advertising on social media can work. Done well, it’s a good strategy. But with regard to your ‘friends’, they’re usually not seeking out whatever it is your posting about. One or more might interact with a comment or two, but it won’t go past that.
That’s why groups are very good, because they’re all there for the same reason. Another thing that works is a business page, such as on Facebook. One thing you can do with that is attract (or even buy) followers who share your interests.
If your social media page is full of goofy pictures and videos, you can’t use it for marketing your new business.
The exception would be a VERY large number of followers who know and trust you. That can work when announcing something new that you’ve found.
It’s the same with email marketing (which is still very effective). You can email all your many contacts, but I wouldn’t recommend it. Old friends and acquaintances that you’ve lost touch with aren’t interested in a new MLM vitamin company. Trust me.
Mailing lists of biz-opp seekers is another story.
Of course, the best audience for your promotions are those searching Google for what you have to share and they find you. Blogs like this one are a great way to achieve that.
Never forget your Target Audience and market directly to them and only to them. Soon enough, you’ll see a big difference in your results!
One last thing about social media. If you like the idea of building your business with this route, I strongly recommend taking a professional course first. But be wary and do research.
That’s because many of them talk a big game but are pretty underwhelming. They also cost too much.
Honestly, most of them suck.
Luckily, there’s a gem or two out there. This is the best one I’ve found (if you like the mighty LinkedIn): Click here to learn all about it
3.) You’re Not Being Consistent
This is a big problem I see in online marketing – especially MLM.
I’ve wasted more time, energy (and money) recruiting and nurturing people online only to have them quit within 30 days. In many cases, they’ll quit if they’re not rich in two weeks!
Honestly, they can decide that this business isn’t for them or it’s costing too much money or time. That’s happened to me.
But there’s a thing called ‘shiny ball syndrome’. That’s when ‘opportunity jumpers’ never stick with anything. They just go from one offer to another, always clinging to the hope that this time, it’ll work.
When it doesn’t work, they’ll blame everyone and everything but themselves.
Look, you have to give something a chance. If you don’t, you’ll never find sustainable success. Sometimes, it just takes TIME.
Do you know that a marketing blog like this takes a minimum of a year to become established and earn any money at all? It’s true.
There’s no automatic switch you can flip to make money instantly in this business. There’s not even a measurable timetable.
Sorry, that doesn’t exist.
No matter what someone says. It takes patience, a real commitment and TIME.
Are you ready to recommit to do what it really takes? If so, it will change everything!
This brings me to online MLM tip #4 – the most important one.

4) You Don’t Have Time For Your Business
Ever heard that one before?
It’s a broken record that plays over and over in the mind of every frustrated Internet entrepreneur. Watching the hours fly by while we get nothing done is like a bad dream.
Obviously, we all have the same 24 hours every day. So it’s not really about time, is it?
The Real Reason You Can’t Find Time for Your Business:
The answer…
You lack the energy and, clearly, your tasks and your true motivations don’t line up.
That’s right, it’s not always about the ticking clock. It’s what’s ticking in your head. I’m talking about drive and purpose – the real fuel that powers your dreams.
I’m about to dissect the time myth, so let’s dive in.
The Energy Deficit:
You’ve hit the wall. The grandfather clock is tick-tick-ticking away. That to-do list for today laughs at you – as it does every day. While you sit there, staring at that screen, all you can mutter to yourself is, “I need more hours…”
But that’s not what you need. You need the Energizer Bunny!
The Energy Audit:
Let’s review some basics. Are you getting enough quality sleep? What about eating right?
Do you have a treatable health problem that nags you? Do you abuse your body with marathons of coffee, energy drinks or adult beverages?
Making some changes in lifestyle (sometimes minor) can supercharge your energy levels, and thus supercharge your business.
What time of day are you at peak performance? When are you at your lowest?
Are you a morning person who gets inspired at sunrise? Or do you hit your stride after midnight, when the city sleeps?
These high-energy moments are when you should be doing your crucial tasks. Time works differently when you do. It just does, and you simply get stuff done.
“I just wish I had enough time…” doesn’t cut it. You have time.
Genuine Interest has its Own Power:
You lose track of time when you’re doing something (or with someone) you love, right?
Or how about spending hours and hours on computer games, but struggling to spend 30 minutes learning how to market your business?
That’s because you’re going to do what you’re truly interested in doing and not much else. It’s human nature.
So, if you can’t get motivated to build out your Internet business, maybe you should ask yourself a question.
Do I really want this? Seriously. Maybe, deep down, this venture isn’t for you.
Sometimes you need a reality check.
Learn To Say NO:
There’s real power in saying “no”.
That means: No to pointless distractions that steal your precious time. No to commitments that drain your energy. No to things that don’t align with your dreams.
Bottom line: Let your Yes mean Yes and your No mean NO.
The Multitasking Myth:
We’ve all been there, juggling (and dropping) a million things like a bad clown show.
But here’s the thing about that: We call it multitasking, but it’s often just switching tasks, and it’s a killer.
“To do two things at once is to do neither.” –Publilius Syrus
Every time you switch tasks, you’re burning up time and energy. That’s because you essentially have to reset your brain again to the task at hand.
When there’s a lot of things to do, it’s easy to get overwhelmed and accomplish nothing.
Pick one thing, focus solely on it, and watch as you get the job done with renewed vigor!
In the end, it’s really about doing less to achieve more. Sounds counterintuitive, right?
I know it does, but it changes everything. Your motivation just keeps getting stronger as you accomplish one thing after another, so make the time count.
Ready to Follow These 4 Online MLM Tips?
I really do sympathize with anyone struggling with online MLM, or online business in general. It’s tough and there’s a lot to learn. And it’s a fact that in this business you’ll make a million mistakes.
Just don’t keep making them year after year. If you do, you’re just spinning your wheels.
You need self-motivation too. It’s not like college, trade school or the military – where they push you. You have to push yourself.
So, let’s recap and a few action steps:
Make sure that you are promoting the right product or service. Be honest with yourself.
Promote to your Target Audience and not to anyone else. Get training if you need it.
Be consistent. Build your brand around one(1) promotion, and maybe one secondary one. Don’t scatter-shot or program-hop. You’ll go nowhere.
Most importantly, manage your time better. The excuse of ‘not enough time’ is an easy lie to tell yourself. It’s deadly.
Did any of this resonate with you?
If it did, don’t waste any more time and start kicking some ass. I’m talking about laying down the law. No more bullshit.
Show the world who you are!
