Can you do MLM recruiting (consistently & effectively) with a blog? The short answer is yes!

The longer answer is still yes, if you’re patient and do it properly – and there is a learning curve.

Building a money-pumping business blog (in the Network Marketing industry, for example) takes three things: knowledge, skill and time. Without all three, it’s like learning a foreign language on a desert island!

Ain’t gonna’ happen, man.

That’s why I have some do’s and don’ts tips here if you’re just getting started – or even if you’ve been at it for a while.

If you’d like to know more about building an MLM downline this way, then read on!

What to Do When You’re a Beginner and Feel like a Nobody

First, let’s start with the goal. The purpose of any business blog is to sell stuff. In the case of a Network Marketing blog, it’s selling you.

It’s pretty simple, if you don’t overthink it.

So how do you do it?

You do it by growing your brand online to create that all-important ‘know, like and trust’ factor. You’re also building a following and a community.

This is crucial.

And, of course, you sell stuff too.

The main thing you do with a blog is just be yourself and add value. When someone is searching the Web and finds a blog post of yours, that means your content satisfied their search intent – or at least your headline did.

When they click through and look at your site, you want them to find what they were looking for, feel satisfied and hunger for more.

Speaking of hunger…

Writing a Blog Post is a Lot Like Running a Fancy French Restaurant

I learned this from one of my heroes, Jon Morrow. He won’t mind if I share it here.

The headline of your post is like the name of your eatery, the signage, its style, the good smells from the kitchen and so on. That’s why headlines you write need to be intriguing, inviting and imply a wonderful benefit – i.e. something delicious if you click it!

In fact, when thinking about what you’re going to write, the headline should be what you spend about 80% of the effort on. That’s what brings them in!

The next thing is your 50-150 word introduction. That’s the appetizer.

It must contain NO grammatical/spelling errors and be no longer than 150 words. It’s to get your readers (i.e. your ‘diners’) excited about what comes next.

After that, it’s the main course. That’s the body of your post.

It needs to be short paragraphs, and a lot of spacing. A one sentence paragraph is fine.

Remember, you’re writing for the Internet. People don’t read blog posts, they scan them.

That’s why quality subheads are so important. They break up the wall of text and lead your reader along to each new section.

Lastly, there’s your closing. In the restaurant analogy, that’s desert. You want them to enjoy something sweet and satisfying.

Of course, you also want your closing to be a motivating call to action. In other words, a swift kick in the pants.

Confused as a Chameleon in a Bowl of Skittles?

I wouldn’t blame you, and here’s the cruel irony; nobody wants to read your shit.

Did I just shock you? Sorry, but it’s the truth.

This is where the restaurant analogy ends.

Like I just mentioned, nobody ‘reads’ blog posts. Well, I do but most don’t.

Nobody ‘reads’ them. They scan them.

Because of that, your most important components are the headline, intro, subheads and closing.

Remember the goal: build your brand, provide value and keep your readers around long enough to see (and possibly click on) your ads or whatever.

Here’s another thing to come to grips with; nobody cares about you, your programs or products.

They ONLY want to know what’s in it for them. That’s why anything you publish needs to focus on their needs and wants – not yours.

Nobody Wants to Join Your MLM Either

They want you to join theirs.

I know, I know. The hard, cold hand of rejection can cause you to give up and lose faith.

Don’t do that, because you don’t have to.

To create a dynamite blog that results in explosive MLM recruiting, you have to talk to people the right way.

How do you do that?

Remember what Network Marketing is in the first place. It’s talking to people.

That’s it, that’s all it is.

I hear it all the time; ‘I don’t wanna’ talk to anyone’. Then you’re in the wrong business.

I take and make calls all the time, even though I’m all about doing this online.

Here’s a good approach to selling online. If your good friend or neighbor desperately needs the solution that your product solves, how would you tell them about it?

In fact, WOULDN’T you tell them about it?

Selling people the right way (online or in person) is a combination of speaking naturally and focusing on their goals and needs.

Mastering this is THE key to success. So do it in a blog!

How Long Does MLM Recruiting Take With a Blog?

The honest answer? A long time… at first.

You have to have faith in the process and that means letting time run it’s course.

Well, what does that mean?

The honest truth?

Given good, consistent and quality content posting, it will take (at a minimum) a year before Google knows your blog exists.

That means you have to wait and you are not in ‘command’. Google is.

It’s never easy to relinquish total control and just trust that it’s going to happen. Actually, you can feel helpless as you just sit by and watch… and wait… and Wait… and WAIT.

I fact, that’s where most (and I mean most) people give up and quit.

But guess what; if it didn’t work, I wouldn’t be writing this!

Check it Out: Here’s What NOT to Do with Your Blog

Want to screw up and make yourself look like a total fool, or worse?

Copy and paste other peoples’ content.

That’s a big no-no and almighty Google will detect it and not rank your content. It’s unethical too.

In fact, it’s low energy.

The Network Marketing industry as a whole has a false and undeserved reputation as being unethical. Don’t reinforce it.

And the worst thing you can do is hammer your reader over the head with your offer. Remember, they don’t want to join your MLM – at least not right away.

You readers were searching for something when they found your blog post. If they found what they were looking for, then they’ll start believing and trusting you.

Belief and trust come first. Selling (in whatever form) comes in at a distant second.

Don’t get that backwards. If nobody likes or trusts you, why would they buy anything from you or join your downline?

Remember, you’re not hawking beer and peanuts in a baseball park. That’s a captive audience. On the Internet, they can leave – and they usually do (within 1-3 seconds).

So, Are There Any Nifty Courses to Speed This Up and Make It Work?

If you’re just getting started online, it’s easy to feel tiny and insignificant.

I understand. It’s hard.

All the stuff you have to learn. The unknown.

If you’ve never started a blog before, getting one off the ground can seem overwhelming.

The best route is to follow the lead of someone who’s already walked the path. So yes, there are tons and TONS of blogging courses out there.

Some are great and some are crappy. The good ones will inspire you and get you on the path to success.

The best ones are like a college semester of premium training.

A good program will teach you all that you need to know to get you on your way – so take a look around.

The rest is up to you!

Ready to Unleash Your Writing Potential?

The bottom line is that blogging can and will skyrocket your MLM recruiting efforts.

If you stay with it, make it a lifestyle and never quit, there will be no stopping you.

Are you truly serious about building a REAL Network Marketing business? If so, then don’t wait another minute.

Get the knowledge and get to work – right now, TODAY!
